High School Math Teacher at RCK

A8: The end goal would hopefully be for students to engage in their own learning and self reflection that they have filled in any gaps in the concepts they are trying to master. #edtechguys

A7: to differentiate FA, students can share what they know in different ways that they feel more comfortable with. Ie/ written work, orally, in a picture in a group. #edtechguys

A6: quiz reflections can allow students to pause and reflect on where they went wrong, why things are wrong and what they could do differently #edtechguys

A5: FA can allow teachers to adjust instruction quickly while learning is in progress. #edtechguys

A4:kahoot is amazing bc students are engaged&I find them to be competitive when playing. They really are trying their best which gives great insight into what they know & don’t know.I like that you can see how many picked the wrong answers to have a discussion on that #edtechguys

A3: some tech tools I use for FA are Edpuzzle, Google Docs, Kahoot, Quizziz, Plickers. #edtechguys

A2: Feedback is an effective component of FA. Whether it’s teacher feedback or peer feedback. #edtechguys

A1: Formative assessment is a quick way to assess individuals progress at any point in a unit of study. You use the results to drive the rest of the instruction for the whole or support individuals. #edtechguys

Hello! Amanda here, I teach at Ketcham HS. Currently teaching Geometry classes. #edtechguys

Q8: A major challenge my colleagues and I have noticed is how many students are cheating. We need to use more open ended problems and project based assessments.#Edtechguys

A7: one way to reduce inequity is to bring the real world into the math classroom. We can make the curriculum relevant to them as well.#Edtechguys

Q6: My all time favorite technology to use in class is Desmos. This program has activities for students to deepen their understanding of concepts or allow them to discover relationships. They get to explore individually while sharing ideas with classmates. #edtechguys

Q5: technology has made inquiry in math class easy. Certain programs I use allow kids to actively do mathematics rather than me tell them how to do. #edtechguys

A4: At the beginning of this year I devoted a few days of discussion on what a “math person” is; what qualities they possess. We work on relating what we do in class to what mathematicians do in their everyday life. It gets kids to see that they are a “math person”. #Edtechguys

A3: one thing I do in my classroom (pre pandemic) is that my students are always sitting in groups (2,3,4) and the arrangements are changed regularly. I try to provide a climate where students help each other. #EDTECHGUYS

A2: the power to go back in time. This way when they get to a concept they already learned/need to build on previous knowledge they can jump back to that time and it will help them review it!#EDTECHGUYS

A1: I find that some students who struggle have math anxiety day 1 walking into my class. It’s a challenge to get them to believe in themselves.#EDTECHGUYS

A1: I currently teach Geometry at RCK HS #edtechguys
