British Columbia has been grateful to host 215 South African firefighters over the past two weeks. This morning, as they prepared to depart for days of rest, they gifted local crews and staff members with a moving ceremony of song and dance to uplift spirits.

Mammograms can miss up to 40% of cancers in dense breasts. That’s why it’s important for all women to know their breast density category, and to have supplemental screening if they have dense breasts, usually with ultrasound or MRI.

Local breast screening missed my suspicious spot three times before Dr Peddle caught the cancer then Dr Seely also got involved. I credit these two amazing doctors for my good outcome. Mammograms for dense breasts aren’t always accurate. 😡😡

A list of micro aggressions to avoid with newly arrived Afghans: This is a delicate period of transition. As an Afghan American, & an academic who has studied the community, I urge you to avoid certain behaviors. These microaggression can be hurtful for our new neighbors.
