I read a lot of stuff around #climate, much of it pretty scary, including lots of scary charts, but this one might well take the biscuit. It’s not just #climatechange, it’s the insane RATE of change that’s so head-meltingly unprecedented.
Terrible... Even more so if the reviewers used gpt4 to review it🫤
🤖 So #ChatGPT wrote the first sentence of this @ElsevierConnect article. Any other parts of the article too? How come none of the coauthors, Editor-in-Chief, reviewers, typesetters noticed? How can this happen with regular peer-review? pubpeer.com/publications/C…
Discussion open for comments: Probabilistic surrogate modeling of damage equivalent loads on onshore and offshore wind turbines using mixture density networks doi.org/10.5194/wes-20…
✋🏼 Galactic high five! In Webb’s image of Stephan’s Quintet, we see 5 galaxies, 4 of which interact. (The left galaxy is in the foreground!) Webb will revolutionize our knowledge of star formation & gas interactions in these galaxies: nasa.gov/webbfirstimage… #UnfoldTheUniverse
👀 Sneak a peek at the deepest & sharpest infrared image of the early universe ever taken — all in a day’s work for the Webb telescope. (Literally, capturing it took less than a day!) This is Webb’s first image released as we begin to #UnfoldTheUniverse: nasa.gov/webbfirstimage…
Pen and Paper Exercises in Machine Learning by Michael U. Gutmann arxiv.org/abs/2206.13446
A new image generation model just dropped. parti.research.google Great work by the team! + Auto-regressive, encoder->decoder Transformer + Classifier-free sampling. + ViT-VQGAN Really amazing results: Image from the website.
“Immense collaborative efforts between industry and academia are needed to solve the challenges of the energy transition. To maximise future wind energy's value, we look at different philosophies of optimizing turbines and wind farms.” bit.ly/38fEkN9 #TUDelft180
Indeed. Investing in #renewableenergy alone is not enough if our total energy demand and the rate of consumption keep on rising year after year. Policies facilitating #degrowth are absolutely necessary.
"Research in innovative renewable energy technologies will certainly accelerate the energy transition. But, reducing our overall energy consumption, facilitated by conscious lifestyle changes, could have larger impact." bit.ly/3uVsJM6 #TUDelft180
If it is up to @EU_Commission, all the energy used will come from renewable sources by 2050. Achieving this goal will require the large-scale use of floating wind turbines. To capitalise on this potential, we are launching the Floating Renewables Lab. bit.ly/3xHFH20
Yesterday, we successfully installed the first SG 11.0-200 DD turbine on the world's first subsidy-free offshore wind power plant, @VattenfallGroup, @BASF and @Allianz's Hollandse Kust Zuid. #Leadingtheoffshorerevolution
Great week, listening to such interesting talks at SIAM UQ22! Excited to bring #probabilistic AI and #statistics to #windenergy. #SIAMUQ22 #MachineLearning @step4wind
Next time somebody asks "what do you for a living?"... This week I attended the @TheSIAMNews Uncertainty Quantification 22, here are all the +400 abstracts summarized in a word cloud. Code: github.com/luisdamiano/SI… #SIAMUQ22 #Statistics #DataScience #R #RStats #AcademicTwitter
Do have a look at the poster: research.tudelft.nl/en/publication… We use chained Gaussian processes to model the site-specific loads on the IEA-10MW reference offshore wind turbine. More to come at #TORQUE2022!
Congratulations to our ESR Deepali Singh who won best poster award at the @AETUDelft PhD Academic Event! Her work focuses on probabilistic surrogate models for floating wind turbines load emulation.
