🎉 Big #WIN for student privacy! 🔒 Austria’s DPA has issued a decision finding that #Microsoft 365 Education illegally tracks pupils and uses student data for Microsoft's own purposes. 📰 Read the full blog post, including a comment by Max #Schrems 👉 noyb.eu/en/noyb-win-mi…
Certainly picked this up today even in hushed tones from their own MPs and councillors at #LabourPartyConference in Liverpool. #DigitalID seems a big misstep. Handing yet another vote winner to the Opposition (take your preferred objections from literally every other party).
NEWS! Least popular government in decades attempts to change its fortunes by reintroducing least popular policy in decades newsthump.com/2025/09/26/lea…
There is still so much concern with the Children's Bill, we need to listen and understand why... the level of reassurance required is sufficiently significant for the government to clarify and communicate its purpose #childrenswellbeingandschoolsbill #datasharing #DigitalID

DfE refuses to release 2020 audit of national pupil records, under FOI defenddigitalme.org/2025/09/29/dfe… #FOI #GDPR #DataProtection #PupilData
Catch up with our @TheABB if you see her today at #LDConf and want to talk about the govt. choice of an unsafe option for #pupildata and national NHS ID reuse in Children’s Wellbeing and #SchoolsBill, the #HomeEd database, what’s possible to do better, or what you can do about it

At #LDConf today? Did you know NHS numbers will become mandated as a national ID under new law? Wales has already linked *every* child’s NHS records to #pupildata incl private schools without telling people. The risks are for life, not just in childhood defenddigitalme.org/2025/06/14/nhs…

#ICYMI Catch up on the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill debated on 18 September 2025 including #edTech #SafetyTech #UNCRC #data and children's rights. "In passing the Bill, we must not create a database state by accident." hansard.parliament.uk/lords/2025-09-… #SchoolsBill #CWBSBill
Important letter @thetimes from Professor Eileen Munro on the #ChildrensBill #SchoolsBill #CWBSBill "As the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill continues its passage through the Lords today, I hope the government will use this opportunity to listen, pause and revise its plan."

Reminder to schools: don’t post pupils’ photos #GCSEResults2025 on social media today — there’s no need, and its risks should be assessed and documented as part of your #safeguarding duties @Ofstednews ⚠️ Why? defenddigitalme.org/2024/01/28/cal… ‼️The status quo defenddigitalme.org/wp-content/upl…
The best single source of information about #GCSEResults2025 today is on BBC Bitesize including links to grade boundary data bbc.co.uk/bitesize/artic… — but why is there no single source incl on standardisation on the results slip itself for each candidate? defenddigitalme.org/2021/12/04/res…
Whatever the #Alevels2025 exam results bring today, we believe everyone should be able to understand how their own grade was calculated. We call on @ofqual to work with exam boards and @JCQcic to give each candidate a written explainer #MyRecordsMyRights defenddigitalme.org/2021/12/04/res…

We’ve a serious suggestion—government Departments should audit admin data stores, delete unnecessary history, retain statistics. And on process costs: DfE’s 23,000 schools census 3x a year, could be massively reduced alone, by sending only field changes, not duplicating records.
