Census Bureau: Detroit has gained 11,000 residents over the last two years, representing the largest numeric increase in Michigan. The city has now grown by >1% since the 2020 count. Just incredible news, especially considering the situation 10-15 years ago.
Jocelyn Benson tells me that, if elected governor, she’d push to connect Michigan’s largest cities with high-speed rail. What would it take? bridgemi.com/michigan-gover…
Interesting bipartisan legislation in Michigan to remove red tape regarding housing. Includes allowing duplexes by right, capped parking requirements at no more than 1 space per unit, capping min dwelling size requirements at 500 square feet, and more:

Potentially massive repercussions for Michigan in this post from President Trump:
The Fairgrounds was one of Detroit’s most valuable redevelopment opportunities and they blew it. It’s near Palmer Park/Woods, the Avenue of Fashion, and walkable suburbs of Ferndale and RO. Endless potential, replaced with a strip mall and an Amazon fulfillment center. Brutal.
The former arena at the abandoned and since demolished Michigan State Fair site in Detroit, Michigan in 2020. It was demolished in 2022 to make way for an Amazon Fulfilment Center. The Fairgrounds are now in suburban Novi, Michigan.

Not enough discussion on here about how at some point this spring we're going to inaugurate a major new bridge (on a new alignment) in the US for the first time in 16 years. Likely the last for many many decades, too
Were the Midwest-stans right all along?
NEW: For the first time in at least 35 years, more people moved to Michigan from other states than moved out last year. Overall, population up nearly 28k. bridgemi.com/michigan-gover… via @Simon_Schuster
Family of Alex Jeffrey Pretti, who was shot and killed in Minneapolis, releases statement: "The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump's murdering and cowardly ICE
Lived too long to say it’s new for the government to lie to the public but the difference between the “official” DHS narrative versus we're seeing in witness videos from multiple angles is on another level.
This is the crucial point … in virtually every one of these videos it is ICE agents who initiate a confrontation and then escalate the situation.
16/xx The earlier video shows that the man was filming ICE and it’s an ICE officer who makes first contact. Getting up in the victims face and pushing him which starts the altercation! (H/t @DustyBama for finding this one)
The moderate position is the complete abolition of ICE AND the push for a Nuremberg-style tribunal for not only the agents but for the officials that drove these policies Steven Miller, Pam Bondi, Vance, Trump - all complicit in murder, kidnapping, and dehumanization
Someone asked on a Detroit development board about “the rumors” this could become an outpost of Chicago’s Field Museum. Either 10/10 bait, or a real opportunity that sadly never left the drawing board.
Feels like the US has completely lost all its soft power now.
Love this city
