The Indian Peafowl surveys his forest court: resplendent in hues that shimmer like emerald and sapphire. Not bothered, not rushed —just there, the forest does that to you sometimes. Sometimes the most beautiful things don’t need to do anything at all. #nikimages #enchantedindia

Like a brush dipped in sapphire, emerald, and ochre, the Indian Pitta swept across the forest — vanishing into a chorus of birdsong, leaving behind a shimmer of motion etched in light. #IndianPitta #BirdsOfIndia #ForestSymphony #nikimages #nikhildevasarphotography#enchantedindia

Cutting through the golden silence of the Thar, this Tawny Eagle glides with quiet intensity — a sentinel of the desert skies. Shot on a still morning in Jaisalmer, where the sand holds stories and the air carries wings. #nikimages #nikhildevasarphotography #enchantedindia #tawny

Touchdown and Takeoff – Birding Bhutan Style You know you're in a bird-rich country when you spot an Ibisbill within three minutes of leaving the airport. Bhutan didn’t disappoint — and neither did the Paro River. We had two birds within 30 minutes of landing.

Ranthambhore | 8 Mar On our first drive, a cub of Riddhi (T-124) charged a Mugger crocodile—sending it splashing in retreat. Gasps echoed. One name surfaced—Machli, the legendary tigress who once did the same. Legacy lives on. #nikimages #nikhildevasarphotography #enchantedindia

Along a busy highway near Paro airport, Bhutan—cars rushing by, rain just starting—and out walked this Black-tailed Crake, calm and stunning. My last sighting in Sikkim was a blink-and-miss moment. This one? Pure magic. #nikimages #enchantedindia #birdsofbhutan

A flash of gold and black in Bhowali’s oak forests — the Yellow-throated Marten. Diurnal, fearless, and folklore-wrapped, it’s Asia’s largest marten and a forest guardian in hill belief. A sign of sharp instincts and good luck. #enchantedindia #wildlifephotography #nikimages

Morning with Indian Skimmers 🧡 At dawn on the Chambal, we watched 56 Skimmers sleep, display, mate & skim water with those surreal orange beaks. Gharials basked nearby, terns courted, and crocs drifted by. Wild, peaceful, perfect. #IndianSkimmer #Chambal #Birding #Wildlife

From Chambal’s wetlands to Ranthambhore’s rugged hills—our first safari here delivered four tigers: Riddhi (Machli’s great-granddaughter) and her playful cubs. One even mock-charged a croc! As we exited, a sloth bear mom appeared with two cubs on her back. Wild and tender. 🐯🐻

The Little Gull (Hydrocoloeus minutus), the smallest of all gull species, is an extremely rare vagrant to the Indian Subcontinent, with only a handful of confirmed records to date. The NCR records are both from Okhla in 1992 and 2014. instagram.com/p/DDW4DrkTApQ/…

An important part of wetland ecosystems, the White-breasted Waterhen (Amaurornis phoenicurus) is a busy little bird you’ll often spot darting along the water’s edge. Though it’s a capable swimmer, it prefers stridinalong the shore, always foraging for insects, fish, and plants.
