Excellent question!

Bring on the discussion on power! Yes, corporate power is a huge threat. But let's affirm that civil society, peasants, small farmers are not powerless. We have power -- in our diversity, knowledge, innovation. Everyday we're wielding that power and changing the food system.
A good question at the #agroecologysymposium: “what do you mean that we need to increase food production, while there is already enough food produced in the world today, and much of what is sold in the name of increasing production actually kills biodiversity and resilience?”
Dennis Garrity of @ICRAF at @UNFAO #agroecologysymposium: even though agriculture is central to climate change, biodiversity, and development, #agroecology is missing from conversations in the international treaties. Agroecology needs to make noise.
Clara Nicholls at @UNFAO #agroecology: farmers are using agrobiodiversity to design agroecosystems capable of ‘failing gracefully’, so that one one component fails, other components continue producing food and other services
A recurring theme in this @UNFAO conference room lined with portraits of council presidents, all of them men: grassroots movements are working on gender equality and recognize feminism at the heart of #agroecology. We academics, policy makers, funders must follow their lead.
The second #agroecology symposium at FAO begins with a packed room and talk of paradigm shift, transformative change, and a watershed moment.
