His disappointment was easily noticed and what was a sweet moment soon soured, ruined by her own hands. An apology was on the tip of her tongue but she held back. Sinking into a curtsey she soon scampered off once more.
He let out a sigh. "If that is what you wish, Carina." It was for this exact reason her feelings had gone unknown for so long.
“Would you like a cup of tea? I got new leaves in and I think..” As she spoke she moved towards the door ready to bolt.
Unfortunately not, given that she had used that exact excuse nearly 50 times already.
“Ack-“ He really did not beat around the bush. Would he possibly take an excuse that she left the kettle on? Would that give her an opportunity to skedaddle?
"You are adorable, Carina." He gave a light kiss to her cheek before releasing her. "Since you have admitted that, I must ask. How long have you harbored such feelings towards me?"
A squeak answered the nip and it was moment before she answered in a soft tone. “I would not be opposed..”
"You know Suci almost as well as I and you know she feeds of the embarrassment of others. Especially when it is of that nature." A small nip to her ear. "Not a jest in the slightest, dear. We both love you deeply and such a proposition would be of little surprise to me."
She was once more finding it difficult to maintain eye contact and her hands nervously fiddled with her tail. That blush was worsening to the point she was all but a steaming tomato. “You jest…please don’t tease me like this.”
"Oh, but that is what makes it so fun." He said with a chuckle. "Your face changes shades at the drop of a hat. Suci would be all over you. I wouldn't even be shocked if she tried to pull you into our bed."
Her cheeks immediately flushed and reddened at the tease. A hand quickly coming up to rub her ear and disperse the ticklish sensation she felt. “P-please refrain from teasing me. I don’t think I could handle it.”
"It took quite a long time to notice how reactive you were to my touch." He couldn't help but tease her by moving his lips close to her ear. "Suci would never stop touching you if she heard that sound you know. Even I find it a bit enticing."
He was right, there wasn’t anything that she could shy away from. Especially if it came down to his safety, this life was one that he saved. If she did not use it for him then there was no point. “I will do my part, do not worry my performance shall not suffer.”
"Carina..." He could see how she was feeling and it hurt him deeply. If he could do anything to dampen that fear he would but. Nothing could be left off the table. Not now.
“You know that I-….we would never ask that of you. That’s the very thing that we would want to avoid.” Unbeknownst to her, a clenched fist had formed. One so tight that her nails were digging into her palms. She would not allow such a thing to happen.
"Of course not." He shook his head. "I want to avoid that outcome if at all possible. But..." The thought of losing those closest to him and living was far worse than losing them from his own death. "I'd gladly die for all of you. There is no question in that."

“Please elaborate.” She could hazard a guess, but she wished to hear him say it.
