(*and for everyone who doesn’t know already, “i18n” is a nerd shortcut for saying “internationalization”. The i is the first letter. The n is the last letter. And there are 18 letters in the middle. Same for accessibility being shortened to a11y. Eleven letters.)
W3C's Internationalization Activity @webi18n is quite possibly *the* most important thing W3C does. Countless hours of i18n expertise and coordination work that afaik exists nowhere else and which has made the Web Platform truly World Wide. And there is still a lot left to do.

The CSS working group @csswg resolves to support a new “font-named-instance” descriptor in the @font-face declaration. This means Named Instances in #variablefonts will be selectable by CSS authors. e.g. font-named-instance: "ExtraBold Condensed"; github.com/w3c/csswg-draf…
