Maintaining vegetation in all areas through which water must flow to reach a pond is very beneficial. Such buffers both slow water down and filter it. Slow moving water allows sediment to drop out of the water. extension.psu.edu/pond-ecology

Another method of keeping sediment out of ponds is to provide a shallow pool at the inlet of the pond. Water passing through this pool on its way to the pond will have an opportunity to drop its sediment load in the pool. extension.psu.edu/pond-ecology

Ponds are viable when there is a balanced food web. This means planktonic algae to feed zooplankton, which in turn provides food for small fish and aquatic insects. These become prey for larger fish which finally may be taken by animals or fishermen extension.psu.edu/pond-ecology

Great article. Thanks for sharing

Incredible driver and man, hope to see him at Le Mans!

It's been quite a journey for Alex Zanardi. A racing crash in 2001 resulted in @lxznr losing both of his legs. Now, he's a four-time Paralympic gold medalist, and he's running in this weekend's #Rolex24 at @DISUpdates.
