Is democracy dying in Oz? If you asked 100 people under 25 which council, state electorate, federal electorate they live in, what percentage would answer correctly, would they care? It appears Australia's democratic education is almost non existent. #democracy #Auspol2023

The question remains Y? My X feed - doesn't have the same blue sky freedom feel I once had with the Twitter feed. X is traditionally a variable , so Elon presumably wants us to believe in variables that can be anything. Are we willing to believe in anything?
The RBA confirms it supports an outdated system built on misery and depravation. Instead we could create other inflation / deflation control measures. One is to create a corporate culture of sustainable and moderate growth instead boom and bust.
Level headed and fair comment. Progress is most often in small steps. To take no steps or backward steps is simply being obstinate. Parliament is about compromise. Feels like the Carbon Tax again from Greens parliamentarians.
Disappointing to see the housing legislation that's been debated since February be kicked down the road to October by the Coalition & the Greens. It's not perfect but it's so much better than it was thanks to advocacy by a whole range of ppl, from stakeholders to the xbench.
I feel the reserve bank has lost its way. There's an insane logic to it's maniacal decision making. Reform it, properly.
I would think the housing crisis, or 'people have no homes problem' would spur a coordinated local, state and national response. It did after WW2 . The political culture we now have is one of virtue signalling first, solution last.

I suspect much of regional NSW is worse. One section of NSW coast I know is likely as high as 40% empty.
Supply isnt the issue to the housing crisis, one issue is overseas investment, money laundering - #NSWpol Sydney’s housing crisis: One in 10 homes in the inner west is empty and the council wants them taxed smh.com.au/national/nsw/o…

This is called State Capture and it's the biggest game in the world. Most of Africa in the same boat as Australia. There are no controls except a specialist media. And few listen they're all entertaining themselves on Social Media
While Norway taxed its oil & gas export profits at 78% building its $2.1 trillion sovereign wealth fund, taxes on Australia's petroleum exports were whittled away to nothing. 3 decades of industrial scale wealth extraction. By me for @MichaelWestBiz michaelwest.com.au/a-tale-of-two-…
Noteworthy statistics - As a regular ocean swimmer I have noticed this
Ocean temperatures have been at all-time record warm levels for 42 straight days. This is completed unprecedented in the modern history of Earth.
Norway: revenue from oil and in 2023 est $327b of which the public gets 64%. Australia: est revenue $164 billion and the public gets $16b in tax/royalties, just 9.8%. @DanielBleakley #auspol with the devastating story of how and why michaelwest.com.au/a-tale-of-two-…

"We need foreign investment" they cried. And yet Australians are locked out of their own investments despite having the money to invest.

Consciousness trap: If you don't study and observe your world you will stand for nothing. (Which is a sad loss). Yet, much more dangerous m, it means you will stand for anything that comes along that sparks your need to believe in something. Anything!
