FYI, I decided to do a slight name shift. I started this account as a space to complain about all the things that bothered me about specific fandoms, but that isn't how I have really ever used it So this really isn't a salt account, it's a discourse account in the Foucault sense
This is teetering close to purity culture btw. This is the exact same argument that my Catholic youth ministers used to vilify premarital sex & porn. They'd argue that "if you marry someone who had premarital sex or watched porn, they'll compare you to their past partners/SWs."
Gonna be blunt, if you hate AI for the fact that it destroys the environment, then you should be welcoming this change. Plastics can take hundreds of years to decompose. Paper takes a few months. This makes a difference environmentally.

The thing purists continually forget is that changing real definitions of real life harmful behaviors to suit your fictional narrative to make them more palatable is in fact a bad thing. Stop softening terms like 'toxic' and 'abusive' when they're serious for a reason.
"Toxic yaoi shouldn't be abusive! Let's just make two characters argue with each other!!" I don't think we should be redefining toxic relationship, mate.
I think this post nails it. You can't judge someone's safety and morality based on easy heuristics. Especially not by their taste in art. You have to actually pay attention to their behaviour.
a fictional character who commits heinous crimes and is deeply evil but still interesting and entertaining is always gonna be more loved by the audience than a morally righteous character who's boring or annoying

And that’s very concerning. Also: anyone else concerned that in an attention economy, where time spent on posts is always a positive thing according to the algorithm … we have to spend a lot of time scrutinizing suspected AI? Will this not propel AI to the top of our feeds?
A big trap a lot of people fall into is that every time some kind of taboo depicted, they have to insist it’s there to teach you the viewer a lesson about what not to do in real life.

One of the most dangerous modern developments in fandom spaces is this. Minors acting as NSFW vigilantes has become so normalized young 20-something adults will encourage minors to do this w/o seeing the issue because they participated as minors as well. We need a safety overhaul
Please please do not encourage your primarily minor fanbase to report NSFW content. This is a general warning beyond the current situation. Please do not encourage minors to seek out NSFW and therefore enter adult spaces in general. It's so dangerous and unhealthy for them.
Hey, just to be clear, I think how Yaelokre is handling their discomfort over people making fanwork of their characters is irresponsible and dangerous. That said; if you reply to/qt them with work that makes them uncomfortable, or even talking about making it. That's harassment.
