State education departments are cheerleading mediocrity
Post-pandemic learning loss is a lot like the national deficit. It is huge, it is exacerbated by political divisions, and nothing that’s currently being done about it will come close to solving the...
CALLOUT: I'm looking for a family who has taken advantage of open enrollment to enroll their child(ren) in a school that isn't in their home district, for one reason or another. Feel free to reach out via dm!
Yes I lost. But my integrity remains in tact. Can you even remember what that was like, Dustin? #idpol
Regardless of your opinion of this policy - I for one think this is a well crafted bill, especially given how the system is struggling right now - it's refreshing to see substantive education legislation make it out of the Idaho legislature instead of BS facebook fodder.
Idaho legislature sends the Empowering Parents Grant program to @GovernorLittle for his signature. Establishing a permanent microgrant for supplemental education opportunities! Congrats @wendyhorman & @lori_denhartog for empowering families! #education #fundeverykid
Have to say I think this is some of @StudentSuccess best work of late. And I am not biased at all. Nope.
Have a K-12 recovery practice that you think should be highlighted nationally? Head over to EduRecoveryHub.org/practice to submit a state, district, or school practice today!
Huge. Can't wait to see what Aimee does.
🚨NEW THIS MORNING: Governor-Elect @GlennYoungkin has chosen Aimee Rogstad Guidera to serve as the next Secretary of Education. She is currently the President of Guidera Strategy, and the former founder and chief executive of the Data Quality Campaign. @NBC12 Pic: LinkedIn
As usual, Richard finds nuance within the nuance.
How do you design a schools policy that works for parents with high *but varied* levels of comfort with the traditional school system? Fascinating new paper on micro-schooling in Idaho from @dmrobbed and @jmjpickford for @ManhattanInst: manhattan-institute.org/microschooling…
The pandemic further exacerbated flaws and inequities in education, but has also ushered in new ideas for the future of public education. Case in point: our very own @jmjpickford and @dmrobbed assess microschooling in Idaho youtu.be/xjErdjtz7-s via @YouTube
Many of my favorite Idahoans helped make this release possible. Grateful for the friends and colleagues I have here and for Jocelyn's collaboration @jmjpickford
Excited to share a new pub with @dmrobbed for @ManhattanIns on Microschooling in Idaho. Eager to see if #InnovationClassrooms take off in the Gem State. bit.ly/3cHaVKO @HCMStrat
I've read through the first 400 comments Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin received about her education task force, which McGeachin released Thursday night after a judge ordered her to do so. I am calling it a night and stopping on this one. #idpol #allstar

Idaho schools again report nearly all teachers are 'proficient' or better. idahoednews.org/news/idaho-sch…
Been thinking about this. We've asked schools to take on considerable new roles. They're being asked to expand their food services, provide Internet and devices, address mental health needs, etc, etc. But are schools the right entity to solve all these problems?
Are we asking public schools to do and be too much?
Reps. Nate, Nichols, and Scott just raised the most hypocritical and unprincipled series of objections I've heard in #idleg to interrupt debate they disagreed with after bloviating repeatedly on #CriticalRaceTheory for weeks including bills w/ o real nexus. #idpol #chickenshit
Interns and staffers are not the dating pools of powerful men.
Good @Dale_Chu piece on the confounding role of state tests in K-12 right now. fordhaminstitute.org/national/comme…
