The first rule of kernel updates is don't interrupt a kernel update.
apparently I've gotten old. Playing Half Life (the original) on steam lately, and I can only go about 20 minutes before motion sickness kicks in. still playing, just not long stretches. 🤣
well I will certainly do that thanks!

Hey MX, you are not in the 1st place anymore. Mint is there.
debian 12.8 updates coming down today. One is for a new 6.1 kernel which may trigger dkms rebuilds, and one is for libc, which triggers locale generation, so your update may take a little longer than usual today. @MX_Linux
Due to some scheduling conflicts, there will not be a Linux Saloon on Saturday, 26 October. We will postpone the Storm OS exploration until next week, 02 November 2024. Sorry for any inconvenience that my arise as a result.
to the script kiddies who think its fun to send a botnet at our forum, *&^%$# you.
I don't know of a distro that ships with it enabled by default, but the kde/plasma application dashboard "menu" launcher is pretty nice.
if the cups RCE CVS warnings got you down, look up :) Debian has them patched today for bookworm (Debian 12, MX23).
i would just like to say that I appreciate the "show apps" button on the right hand toolbar on ubuntu 24.04 being on the bottom left. seems familiar somehow...
bit of a problem with an ahs firmware update. problem packages have been pulled. More info in our blog. Standard releases not affected. @MX_Linux mxlinux.org/blog/ahs-firmw…
looks like mostly adlerlake graphics having issues, and only with particular kernels. The latest 6.9 liquorix and the 6.1 LTS are fine. users of the standard releases are unaffected, this is just for ahs users (KDE release also uses ahs by default).
there have been a few reports from AHS users of problems after updating to the latest firmware package. The firmware seems to be fine on liquorix 6.9 kernels and debian 6.1 kernels, so have one of those handy.
