People bemoan unmaintainable 30-year-old COBOL codebases claiming we should rewrite it in "modern tech". JS rots faster than anything I've worked with in my career. Let's hope that modern tech is something better with a type system.
It's staggering how fast NodeJS code rots. Spent 6 hours trying to upgrade a 2 yr old project to latest. Current code is busted. Upgraded code failing with incomprehensible errors. Thinking of burning it to the ground and starting over as I can't find an incremental path...
