Still, it would be interesting to know how much pollutant is left in the water after they install the temporary filters. Look how long it took the state to do even this. It’s shocking how little the state of SC cares about its poorest residents, from health care to education.
That’s probably a good question. I’ve been told by several people before that it’s enough to significant reduce how much PFOS and PFOA is in the water. It’s not likely to be a long term solution however.
The P&C should test to see if the carbon filters actually work on those chemicals.
Update to the story yesterday. SC health officials are now passing out carbon filters to roughly 100 homes at the Crescent Mobile Home Park to temporarily treat for industrial chemicals that were found in the communities drinking water wells. postandcourier.com/news/state-hea…

Carbon water filters are being distributed at a trailer park near Shaw Air Force Base after industrial chemicals were confirmed in the the community's water system.
One of the reasons I love investigative reporting instead of this sort - As an investigative reporter you usually are on your own looking into something unseen or overlooked by other journalists as they chase the news of the day, which must, of course, be covered.
There are over 20 reporters there all trying to get the same quote. Imagine if those reporting resources were actually spread out across the country to cover other topics and people.
