Lately I've been seeing a lot of hype around quantum computing on this platform. Are those bots or humans? Either way, what I'm seeing is concerning. I want to provide an honest perspective on the current status quo, which is hopefully useful. Long story short, I do think a lot…

David Cameron has made more than £1.6m since the Brexit vote. The country, meanwhile, is about £66bn poorer theguardian.com/politics/2020/…
Churchill's aspirational words still hold true today more than ever. ❤🇪🇺 "Men will be proud to say 'I am a European'. We hope to see a day when men of every country will think as much of being a European as of being from their native land". #IamEuropean
« Prenez garde, je vais parler français ». En 1949, à Strasbourg, Winston Churchill appelait à la construction européenne. En 2016, l'ironie de l'Histoire le voyait trahi par son propre parti. Qu'aurait-il pensé aujourd'hui de ce #BrexitDay ?
The @UCLCS quantum information theory group is hiring postdocs! #UCLQ #UCL If you're interested in working with Lluis Masanes and myself on...well, almost anything quantum really, from algorithms to many-body physics, apply here: atsv7.wcn.co.uk/search_engine/…
Connes embedding conjecture (a question in pure mathematics about von Neumann algebras) is equivalent to Tsirelson’s problem (a question about whether two mathematical models of quantum entanglement are equal).
Some more detail from @henryquantum on their breakthrough result, refuting the Connes embedding conjecture using quantum complexity theory:
Sure! Since I’m the only (active) person on Twitter from our team (so far), I guess I’ll say something short :-). Basically, there is a really remarkable set of connections involved: pure math <=> foundations of quantum mechanics => complexity theory. 1/n
Conservative party donors, backing Brexit but at the same time seeking EU citizenship via Cyprus. Pardon my French but ordinary British citizens are being screwed over by their elite. reuters.com/article/us-bri…
Excellent. And I want ‘European Associated Citizenship’! 🖐 Who’s with me?
The EU member states should grant UK citizens living in Europe the full rights as they have today. Automatically. No ‘ifs and buts’ here either. Let's also come back to the idea of ‘European associated citizenship’ for UK citizens who want to keep their link with Europe.
The election gives BJ the freedom to extend the transition, and to align UK & EU rules, if he wants to. He will probably do this, since leaving the transition without an FTA would be painful for the economy. He can take on ERG since he is master of his party. A thread. @CER_EU /1
Dear Prime Minister, We, the undersigned, respectfully, ask you to take up an initiative your predecessor declined to support, for a form of Associate Citizenship... Please sign and RT. goodlawproject.org/petition/good-…
We will now, it is clear, leave the EU. Those who did not want that have lost. If Johnson wants to bring the country together he should take up this initiative. It costs him nothing but would be a huge olive branch to those losing part of their identity. independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…
Excited to share some of the first work from PhaseCraft: Strategies for solving the Fermi-Hubbard model on near-term quantum computers (with Chris Cade, Lana Mineh and Stasja Stanisic) arxiv.org/abs/1912.06007 #q2b19
1/3: To date, results in the thermo resource theory paradigm were built on precarious foundations: it was unclear whether they were implementable without changing the transition laws due to unavoidable back-action. @postquantum pointed out this problem a long time ago to me
You know what to do. Let’s vote tactically and GetJohnsonGone.com
