🎨 Let’s talk edges! In this clip, I’m showing how mixing hard and soft edges can totally change the vibe of your painting. It’s a simple technique that makes such a difference! The crisp lines grab attention, while those blurry, soft transitions keep it relaxed and moody.

Some things I say as an art teacher: What you do and what you create matters. Your vision is uniquely YOURS. And it’s beautiful. When you create something from your heart, everyone who sees it gets to experience a bit of you. What a gift you give when you create art.

Vigorous Work v. Rigorous Work "Invigorating work is authentic work. It drives the teacher. It drives the learner. It drives us. It’s not something we do to kids. It is something we do with and for kids. I raise my support, so I can raise my kids. It’s 'we' work. It’s our work."

This is what I love about teaching art; helping each student think through their own vision, then supporting their personal art making decisions.
I was a teacher for (many) years before discovering I really wasn't teaching. I was talking, assigning, grading. And I thought I was teaching. Truly. I wasn't. I didn't start teaching until I learned to respond to each kid's learning. That is where/when I become a teacher.

Gabriel Orozco abstracts a composition from the image of a piñanona leaf's shadow, a common plant used for decoration in homes throughout Mexico. While his earlier paintings focus on geometry and chance, here he observes a natural form. #HHM Learn more: gu.gg/3C02fMR
