Junior Doc proud to be working in the NHS

I agree this is a serious concern - PPE is not just to protect carers and healthcare staff but to protect residents and patients from infection. All key workers must be provided with PPE given they can't practice social distancing to do their jobs.

My cousin who is in a care home was taken to hospital&tested positive for Covid. He has not been out of the care home, had any visitors or mixed with any other residents for 3 weeks...go figure where he got it from. Staff seen NOT wearing PPE (looked thru window-now obscured)😔

I really can't stress this enough. If you think you have a lump, losing weight too quickly, coughing up blood. Phone your GP. We could be missing up to 3/4 of the cancers we normally pick up. The importance of catching cancer early hasn't changed - get checked.

Dr Stuart Walker, medical director at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, has said convalescent plasma treatment offers a 'glimmer of hope'. Using the blood from people who have recovered could help patients severely affected by the virus. I sincerely hope it works.

PPE: •Coronavirus is 150 days old •WHO declared a pandemic 1 month ago •Yet NHS staff are using bin bags to cover themselves •50% of NHS staff at 1 A&E had the virus •95% of NHS ain’t been tested •This is ‘herd immunity’ against NHS staff •We demand PPE now for NHS Heroes

We are learning more about this virus every day. Iceland's wide-scale testing has found half of positive patients showed no symptoms, this fits with the cruise ship data. Many will be spreading it without knowing - this is why the social distancing is so important.

It is hard to find the words to express my debt to the NHS for saving my life. The efforts of millions of people across this country to stay home are worth it. Together we will overcome this challenge, as we have overcome so many challenges in the past. #StayHomeSaveLives

I cannot thank our magnificent NHS enough. The staff at St Thomas’ Hospital have been incredible. I will never, ever be able to repay you and I will never stop thanking you. 🌈

I am a member of frontline staff… The health sec says there is bountiful PPE, but I don’t care if it’s in a distribution centre or on a lorry, it’s not on my head, face, or shoulders… MPs should ask why that is, rather than hypocritically scoring points…

If you work in the NHS or know someone who does, send them our way for unlimited data until October. Just go to EE.CO.UK/NHS and enter a valid NHS email.

Absolutely

If you have high blood pressure, consider buying your own blood pressure machine if you do not already have one. You can then monitor your blood pressure at home and reduce your attendances at your GP surgery. This is better for you and for the NHS. #COVID19

Doctors are getting requests to prescribe drugs such as Ibuprofen and Paracetamol because patients who need them can’t buy them in the shops. This is a waste of time for patients, doctors and pharmacists. PLEASE DO NOT STOCKPILE DRUGS. #COVID19

I’m really sorry but we have had to suspend all visiting to both Ipwich and Colchester Hospitals as well as Felixstowe, Bluebird Lodge and Aldeburgh Hospitals, to reduce people coming on site. Please stay at home. Your sacrifice will save lives.

UPDATE on #COVIDー19 testing in the UK: Today's figures will be published later today. We are working hard to provide you with the latest information and will tweet this out as soon as possible.

We’re calling on nurses and doctors who’ve recently left the NHS to return. We need you now as part of the national effort to fight coronavirus england.nhs.uk/2020/03/former…

Not a single one of us working in the NHS isn't a bit scared to go to work, to get in to that ambulance, to go into side room 3, to go into X's house. This is when we transcend our training. We'll look after each other, with the country at our backs.

THREAD: If you are a patient contacting your general practice, you will notice some changes. Practices across England are now implementing telephone triage. This is to screen patients and identify those that might have #COVID19 infection to minimise the risk to other patients. 1/

A reminder that automatic organ donation comes into force in England in May. Adults in England will be automatically enrolled as organ donors under the provisions of the new law unless they have opted-out.

We are now seeing many patients who have been discharged following surgery with no follow-up. All post-operative care and wound management has been delegated to primary care. Surely this can’t be good for surgeons or patients?
