A girl watching her dad play a drum: violent, scary, worthy of national media attention. Bombs that collapse entire apartment blocks on top of their inhabitants: that's complicated, who can say, who are we to judge, maybe they all had it coming, best to avoid talking about it.
Like during the George Floyd uprisings, you suddenly have like 50 active examples that cops pretty much exist for one ultimate purpose. Violence, repression,maintenance of the status quo. The consistency is evident, all at once, in brutality against students. Internalize that.
A lot of the songs on climbing out are about this house. All of the new songs were written in this house. We were supposed to record a new record here in June. As if you needed another excuse to hate landlords.

This is a horrifying situation. One point of clarification, however. There are several major nations, chief among them the US, that did not simply “fail” to stop it, but rather enabled and encouraged it through constant full-spectrum support for Israel’s war.
Famine is imminent in Gaza. The international community should hang its head in shame for failing to stop it.
This isn’t Gaza. This is Yemen. US-UK warplanes are heavily bombing Yemen’s capital city of Sanaa in the middle of the night, again, because Yemen refuses to sit idly by while Israel commits genocide in Gaza.
Elbit Systems, Israel's largest weapons company, "battle-tests" its weapons & border surveillance technology on Palestinians & then sells it to the US govt to use against migrants. In September 2023, Elbit got another multi-million $ contract with US Customs & Border Patrol.
