In the beginning, most people approach magick the way a child approaches the world - through need. They want relief, safety, advantage, reassurance. Prosperity “spells”, protection rituals, love workings…all of these are attempts to negotiate with reality from a position of fear…
They expect you to explode, confront, or “go off” because that would neatly validate their story about you. It allows them to say, “See? This is why we distanced ourselves.” When you don’t do that, it quietly undermines the narrative they’ve been rehearsing.
