Ac 15,4-Mark creates a serious "agree to disagree" moment. Paul can't allow his work to be negated by someone who can't stomach the Gentiles. But Barnabas gives Mark another chance. Reaching the world for Christ is too important to let disagreements stop the work. #HarborCBR
Ac 15,3-With the decision made about the Gentiles, Paul didn't want to bring Mark in future ministry, probably because Mark couldn't handle the Gentiles inclusion. Mark was Peter's cousin, who also faltered in showing love to the Gentiles in Galatians 2. #HarborCBR
Ac 15,2-The council was made up of Apostles, whose decision expressed the authority of Jesus. Their decision became part of the Bible that all Christians now follow. Subsequent church decisions are not the Bible. They try to express the Bible. They can be challenged. #HarborCBR
Ac 15-The answer to a most pressing question in the early church: Are Gentiles equal with Jews in the church? Answer-yes! Every nation is welcome into God's family if you repent and believe in Jesus. You don't have to become Jewish to follow Jesus. #HarborCBR

Ac 13,2-I love v48: "As many as were appointed to eternal life believed." This wonderfully expresses the dance in the Bible between people who need to exercise their will in life & God who needs to enliven the will in people. The Bible contains both perspectives. #HarborCBR
Ac 14-Many believe, but Jewish unbelievers divide the city. In Lystra, Paul is worshiped by some, & then stoned by others. But God raised Paul up. It's through suffering that we enter God's kingdom. Back in Antioch, they report that the Gentiles now believe in Jesus. #HarborCBR
Ac 13-The gospel turns toward the Gentiles. The Jewish opposition compels Paul to follow Jesus in Matt 21:43--he turned from the Jews and gave the gospel to the Gentiles. The Gentiles believed! They too were filled with the Holy Spirit. #HarborCBR
Ac 12,4-Paul delivers the financial gift from the Gentile regions to the famine-stricken Jewish Chrisitans in Jerusalem. Is this the collection spoken of in 2Cor 8-9? Doesn't seem like it. John Mark returns with Saul. That will be important in a few chapters. #HarborCBR
Ac 12,3-There is a really funny moment: Christians are praying for God to release Peter. Peter (released) shows up at the gate. The door servant-excited to tell the rest-forgets to let him in, and the people praying don't believe the servant that Peter is outside! #HarborCBR
Ac 12,2-God miraculously rescued Peter. Why did He not rescue James? God's intervention (or non-intervention) is mysterious, and painful when we experience evil & suffering. I've learned to trust God, which includes arguing & begging Him to show me His goodness. #HarborCBR
