Today is #Imbolc , the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It is also #Candlemas , which in medieval England was considered the end of the Christmas season. And of course there's Groundhog Day and, for our friends who celebrate, National Tater Tot Day.

When you are just barely hanging on by your fingernails, you sometimes learn important things about yourself. But most of the time, you just notice that you really, really need a manicure.

Mosquitoes love me, which makes me an ideal companion for a summertime walk. I'm basically the equivalent of bringing bagpipers into battle to draw fire.

We frequently have coffee with a local writer who is about to publish a collection of his work. Last visit, he brandished an ARC and announced, "My life in poetry!" It occurred to me that I could never do something similar, as "My life in limericks!" lacks a certain gravitas.

According to Marie Kondo, you shouldn't fold socks into a ball because they work hard and deserve to rest. By that logic, most bras deserve a poolside chair and a pitcher of margaritas.

A goblin after my own heart.

The bwca or bwbachod is a Welsh goblin who cleans people's houses. Though he respects politeness and moderation, the bwca is offended by people who moralize a lot, and will become enraged if someone preaches against the drinking of alcohol. 🎨Brian Froud #folklorethursday

I read this over the weekend (I own two copies, because I forgot that I'd preordered an ebook and bought a hardcover....) Entertaining characters and a well-crafted mystery. Read this series, but start at the beginning. #mystery

Facebook Memories is the internet's way of reminding you that you've made some very odd decisions along the way.

I don’t like to brag, but….

This is gorgeous.

Illustrating a couple of very lyrical picture book texts lately (writing some too!) and absolutely loving it. Feel free to send me more of those, publishing gods, especially those ones that are all sadness, hope & joy wrapped up in a big ball of expressive art. I'm here for it✨

All the #Boskone posts by fantasy writers, editors, and artists has left me feeling rather blue. It has been years since I attended a con, not counting Chorus America. And that really doesn't count, because NOT ONE PERSON wore chain mail.

Aspirational harper goals! I'm working on Kim Robertson's arrangement of "Glenlivet," a Scottish fiddle tune. Lots of syncopation and interesting chords. youtube.com/watch?v=H9Tf85…

One of the most underrated life skills is curation. Focusing on what matters to you involves saying no to many things are don't. And that's harder than it sounds.

Just learned that the market news website Ralan.com has closed after 26 years and 57 days. That's a good long run for a great resource for writers of fantasy, sf, and horror. Thank you, Ralan! #WritingCommunity

To everything there is a season, and February is apparently the season for #garden porn. I get SO MANY emails and online ads and catalogs that I'm almost tempted to grab an ice pick and chip frozen soil into a garden plot, never mind the -27 windchill.
