Body shaming is damaging because of the aftereffects. Even when the person has lost so much weight, dah kurus, they'd be self-conscious about their physical appearance, how their body looks, how people look at them. 10-15yrs later and the insult still feels like yesterday.
As someone who is fat, but exercise regularly, I'll explain why it is damaging. I'm not against working on losing weight, but "fatshaming" isn't encouraging ppl to lose weight because there is an expectation that the weight loss happens instantly just by dieting and working out.
