How do we retain my nurses in this crisis? Team ED across the UK tell me the longest waits for beds you’ve had this weekend
Yesterday on shift in ED- 18hours to offload from ambulances, >70 hour (!) wait for admission to wards. No facilities for washing/warm food/dignity. I have taken to asking families to feed their relatives. It has never been this bad. #Moralinjury #burnout #moralexhaustion
Self-extrication should be considered as the primary route of egress for trapped patients of all ages.... next up: our Delphi work which defines those that can be helped by self-extrication, with: @NFCC_FireChiefs @ParamedicsUK @_ukro @FPHCEd @ResearchPHOTON &NHRAF
Another piece of the “extrication puzzle” Published yesterday in @SJTREM (so it’s free to download + digest) In summary: - older patients don’t do well - get them out promptly - ideally use self extrication Thanks again @RoadSafetyTruUK for the support sjtrem.biomedcentral.com/track/pdf/10.1…

This could well be the answer to so many problems in EM. We have to train and look after our whole workforce. A well trained and supported nursing workforce is the back bone of the ED Team. Well done to the team @FacEmergNurse for releasing such an exciting opportunity.
This will be a VERY interesting read and if you want to complete the understanding listen the podcast with pete and I on @ededucate
