When the bubble bursts, the ones who will recover first are those who continued thinking for themselves and didn’t believe the snake oil sellers. They’ll remember how to find information, think critically, and do the work. Everyone else will be wondering how they got taken for…
Over these next few years it's going to become more and more important that you resist letting slop consume you. Keep creating. Keep learning. Keep thinking.
I've already seen writers on LinkedIn who are using AI and are forgetting how to write themselves. If AI goes away, a lot of people won't remember how to write or even think for themselves.
Almost feels like they’re pulling industry is counting on that.
People will probably look back at this time and wonder how so many smart people could be wrong about so many things at the same time. Humanity has gotten some great tech but I don’t know if we have progressed as a species, to be honest.
Do you think we’ll lose faith in the tech sector, or will the fallout get forgotten while we play with the next shiny thing?
To be honest, I think a lot of those who use LLMs use (and do so uncritically) them specifically *because* they don't know how to find information, think critically, or do the work. IMO often AI preys on problems that already existed.
Isn’t that the essence of tech innovation, though? Find a problem, claim to have the solution, then exploit those who can afford your fix.
It's very efficient at research and coding. But there is still grunt work that real work demands and so it can't be more than an assistant to humans. It could help reduce the work week to just 3 days.
I must be using the wrong model for coding, because everything I’ve used it for has required foreknowledge of code so I can find and fix all of its mistakes. It’s been the opposite of helpful.
ok but what if....i'm just saying....we put AI on the blockchain?
Whatever else I think about myself or my capabilities, I'll at least feel good about this

The internet didn't go anywhere when the .com bubble burst. Lots of companies were liquidated though. Houses didn't go anywhere when the housing bubble burst. Foreclosures everywhere. AI won't go anywhere when the AI bubble bursts. Companies will be liquidated.
Oh man, its going to be messy when idiots realize AI isnt going away and that it will continue to get better. 3 years of progress has been astounding
