We produce a monthly newsletter about #womeninengineering in the news, professional development events around #Toronto, and share other great media like books and podcasts about #STEM. Our next issue comes out next week, don't miss it! bit.ly/2Pjrbsv
I don’t think diversity training can fix this.
Great thread alert!
👀👎
I just reviewed 4 proposals for an engineering design/construction project. Each one submitted 8 key personnel resumes. Guess how many of the 32(!) resumes are females? Hint- it’s above 1 but less than 3... yep 2/32. And they were both the same firm. MORE WOMEN IN STEM PLEASE! 😑
I asked folks in my network what it feels like to be Black in Tech and this is what they shared with me ... a thread 🧵
Wondering why Canada has a 30by30 project to support #women and achieve 30% licensed #engineers be women by 2030? This graph shows why: in 26 years, women’s representation in #engineering #education has increased very slowly. Proactive intervention is now needed. @PEO_HQ
Not sure who needs to hear this: You are not overwhelmed. You are overextended.
Same questions for engineers in general- looking to open some dialogue to expand on our recent article on allyship!

Latest EngGirlProblems blog post by @AlvinPilobello about Male Allyship in the Disrupted Engineering Workplace. While originally written with male allyship in mind, we can all listen and show up more for all of our colleagues in the engineering workplace. enggirlproblems.com/allposts/2020/…
.@NASA is renaming its headquarters after Mary Jackson, the organization's first Black female engineer. #WomenInSTEM 🚀🚀🚀 nytimes.com/2020/06/24/sci…
This pandemic is exactly why I hated group projects in school.
Is it “cancel culture” or is it just repercussions
My biggest achievement yet- (NERVOUS) me in @CityHallLabour alongside directors, researchers and CEO’s talking ways to tackle inequality in stem. This is my response to #blm - working on positioning myself to internally push for change #WomenInSTEM #womenintech #BlackTechTwitter
Same goes for workplaces.
Hey faculty - when students point out the lack of diversity and inclusion in #academia, replace: "I've been doing [xyz] to promote diversity and inclusion." with: "I will work to do better because the current efforts aren't enough." #AcademicTwitter #phdchat #phdlife
You never know who’s watching your journey and inspired by your growth. Keep going.
This is a great thread. Read it.
please stop calling these women females. they dont call us males, they call us men. they are women. say that
Last week I shared how microaggressions can feel like ‘death by a thousand cuts’ in (and outside) of the workplace and talked about my recent growth on Instagram with the @nicolevassell for the @Independent — read more here: independent.co.uk/life-style/mic…
'It really chips away at your self worth, and it’s harder because the instances seem so small.' Me for @Independent / @IndyLife on how microaggressions play a traumatic part in everyday racism, ft. @AveryFrancis & @Dr_SJRennalls ✊🏿 independent.co.uk/life-style/mic…
