If you want to know what goes on inside golf OEMs… If you want to know what gear will actually help, and what is just marketing smoke… If you’ve spent hours scouring the depths of Golfwrx forums… If you have questions to help inform your golf purchase… You’ve found the…

Shaft length and head weight came up recently. Also known as “swingweight.” To put some simple science on it, recall that Torque = R (lever arm) x F The torque on your hands = shaft length * headweight So if you shorten your driver shaft, you will need to add head weight to…

Both Rory and Tommy appear to have Taylormades LME (launch monitor enabled) tech on the face of their new Qi4D. This came out last year on Qi35, but it’s the first time I’ve seen pros use it. From @sms_on_tour IG

Hey what happened to all the heads-up putting that was trending for a few days there

Rory & Scottie simply will not play something that doesn’t make them better (Qi35) Winning > $$, and TaylorMade is not forcing them. I used to think it was pure marketing to force a switch every year. Last year’s blunder with Qi35 makes it a genuine endorsement if Qi4D sticks.

With new TaylorMade drivers on the timeline, I'd like to get ahead of the "wait 3 months and the Qi5D will come out" comment. TM driver releases since '16: Feb '25 - Qi35 Feb '24 - Qi10 Feb '23 - Stealth 2 Feb '22 - Stealth Feb '21 - SIM2 Feb '20 - SIM Feb '19 - M5 & M6 Feb…

It’s tragic that game improvement irons are also cheapest. This becomes the default entry for most golfers, and it makes them worse for a long time.

Bit of an awkward attachment point hex chunk going on with the bottom model. Other than that, these look great.

The last pillar of putting royalty has yielded to the zero torque trend. I am willing to declare this is no longer at risk of being a fad. Zero torque putting will be part of the lineup long into the future. It is a better way to putt for certain strokes.

For all you half-baggers and 3-club tourney players, how’d I do with this chart?

Looks like it’s officially new product launch season (a little early this year!) Let me know if you have any questions about what you’re seeing on the timeline.

Golfers in the comments: “I ain’t buying this crap, it’s the same driver every year with a new paint job” Golfers in the comments when something is actually different: “I ain’t buying this crap, there’s no way that new thing works” Translation: “I’d really like to buy this, but…

New USGA conforming pics going around. Feels like a good time to point out that not all tungsten is created equal. Pure tungsten (19 g/cm^3) is expensive and brittle and I’ve never seen it used in golf clubs. Tungsten is always an alloy in golf, and ranges from 8 to 17 g/cm3

The USGA can be a drag. They have many vague and subjective equipment rules, including this. The club must be "plain in shape."

How do you determine what your all time personal best round is? Do you look at score? Or do you look round differential? A 5 over 77 from the tips at Kiawah Ocean course has a better differential than a one under 71 on a 6400 yard course with a 71.1 rating and 130 slope.

I don't see this one discussed too often... the "One-Ball" rule. The USGA distinction that pros must play the same make & model of a golf ball throughout a round is a model local rule. That means if it doesn't apply to your current game, take advantage! In between clubs on a par…
