The PRO Act provides app-based workers the right to organize a union & is a step in the right direction towards ending employee reclassification. I’m proud to organize with @_drivers_united. Shout out 2 farm workers, domestic workers, & @GoIUPAT who also fighting 4 the PRO Act
NEW: Drivers are exposing Uber and Lyft’s business model. It’s built on deception, control, and false promises. They operate "a lot like a drug dealer,” one driver said. But the PRO Act would change that and restore power to workers.
All gas, no breaks.
Battery workers in the South are standing up to win their union! 💪🔥
"Battery workers are autoworkers.” Today, a supermajority of battery workers at BlueOval SK in Kentucky announced that they have signed union cards and launched their public campaign to join the UAW. #StandUpUAW
I keep thinking about the occupational impacts of UberLyft’s business model…and the way the city killed so many immigrant men — men who died of stress and heartbreak and economic ruin because the city & state would not enforce the goddamn laws.
There's no way Michigan was even in play without @UAW—same for Nevada & Arizona without @unitehere. Dems failing unions yet again by not acting on NLRB nominees is at their own peril. We'll still be here without you, but you won't survive without us.
FYI the Dems haven't yet confirmed Biden's last NLRB nomination — even though this would maintain a Democratic Board through late 2026
Depends on how you define “unionization.” This is not the law working class people of color needed to build material power. And it’s so upsetting that some in labor think it’s okay to “experiment” with precarious workers who have not consented to this experimentation.
I guess Elon is the exception to “the boss being the best organizer”

Massachusetts friends and @UAWRegion9A members: Remember to Vote No on Question 3. Drivers deserve a union that will democratically represent them, not a shortcut that Uber/Lyft support #mapoli bostonglobe.com/2024/10/13/bus…
This the BEST analysis of the bad SEIU-IDG backed initiative for Uber drivers. As @FlyingWithSara said, "Are we building a fighting movement or are we just trying to get people to pay dues"? With thoughts from @NelsonLichtens1 & me. prospect.org/labor/2024-09-… @lukewgoldstein
Wow, Uber said they will not actively lobby against the IDG-SEIU initiative in MA that creates a "union" without employment rights. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know, I don't know what does.
BREAKING🚨We are going to be on strike at midnight at Law360.🚨
TIME’S UP @Law360 and @LexisNexis: We’ve offered you plenty of opportunities to reach a fair contract and remedy your unlawful practices at the table but tonight, just after midnight, we will walk off the job on an open-ended ULP strike.
Donald Trump’s worst nightmare is a reality, his son is being taught by @UAW members

Unacceptable that this man shared the same stage as so many labor leaders at the invite of the DNC.
What a terrible choice @dnc to give Uber's counsel who defends a biz model that's left millions of workers in poverty cover as some voice-of-the-voiceless ordinary family member. Who's the "all of us" he thinks is worth fighting for bc it sure isn't the drivers he exploits.
There is still time to change course and do the right thing by allowing a Palestinian American to address the DNC from the stage.
If we want the war in Gaza to end, we can’t put our heads in the sand or ignore the voices of the Palestinian Americans in the Democratic Party. If we want peace, if we want real democracy, and if we want to win this election, the Democratic Party must allow a Palestinian…

HUGE!
BIG NEWS: The @PittsburghPG has broken federal labor law so viciously for so long that the @NLRB has filed for an injunction that, if granted, would go a long way toward holding the Block family accountable and returning a caliber of news to Pittsburgh this community deserves.
