I feel like Framber Valdez's delayed signing & Tarik Skubal's arb hearing ($19+M vs. $32+M) are tied together. If Skubal wins he'll get traded & the Tigers will pounce on Framber as his replacement. If the Tigers win, they'll probably keep him & Valdez will sign with the Orioles.

For #Astros to sign C Christian Vasquez, they need to send prospects like P Miguel Ilola, INF Brice Matthews, P Ryan Forcuccia to STL for lefty bat INF/OF Brendan Donovan's $5.8M. Then Jesus Sanchez's $6.8M for prospects. That gives Vasquez $6-7M he'd need+ keep Stros under tax.

Tired of hearing #Astros overplayed their hand re trade demands for Paredes, Sanchez, Meyers & Walker. Stros are fine! For once they didn't overpay in deals. With Correa & Yordan the most injury-prone, Paredes could fill in for either. But even w/o injuries, he'll get enough ABs.

The difference between #Astros dealing for WAbreu over Duran for Paredes may be a valuable backup C+RP vs. a cheap C who fills in once a week. Duran makes $8M, Paredes $9M, so Abreu/Duran cancel each other. Getting WAbreu adds 7M to $3-4M ($10.5M) the Stros are under the tax now.

Are #Astros, paying millions to Correa, AFRAID to ask still one of the best SS in baseball & he, who's grateful to be back w Stros, to return to his original position for 1 year before lockout that would move Pena to 2B & allow Paredes to play 3B? Altuve/Yordan would split LF/DH.

A far-out, but will-never-happen 3-team trade idea: Nats, Astros, Red Sox deal: Red Sox get SS Pena from Astros. Astros get SS Abrams from Nats and RF WAbreu from Red Sox, Nats get SS Arias, 2B Campbell from Red Sox, P Ilolla from Astros. Correa agrees to return to SS for 1 year.

Wondering if the #Astros moving Isaac Paredes is dependent on his arb hearing? The ask and offer are about a million and a half apart which could be significant for a team hugging the 2d tax threshold--like Boston. Yes, the Red Sox are close. Anyone know when Isaac's hearing is?

Looks like the Red Sox have moved on from a potential deal w the #Astros for Isaac Paredes that might've sent a Duran or WAbreu to Houston. The teams seemed to match up well but it's likely the Red Sox over-valued their OFers & way under-valued Paredes offensively & defensively!

I'm happy with the #Astros right now! Day 1 of ST Paredes is taking flyballs in LF if i'm the manager. He's an athlete. He can certainly play Daiken's short porch. Bigger yards you DH him or fill him in at 3B for Carlos.

#Astros should pick up CFer Michael Siani, just DFA by Dodgers to make room for Tucker. Siani's the type player Stros need to rebuild their system. Lefty bat, speed, defense. Would actually fit Stros OF/bench right now even if they acquire Wilyer Abreu in a Paredes deal w Boston.
