Can report that that is NOT the vibe people are getting inside the library.

This work will continue to be a challenge - we will not always agree on the best approach or recommendations made. Librarians and library supporters should and WILL continue to drive this work.

These fucking people.

Hi. It’s been a minute. The Omaha Public Library Board of Trustees is prepared to vote on a resolution this Thursday to create an advisory committee that will determine the future of Omaha’s libraries.

Surprised by the Omaha Library news today? Guess what? So we’re library staff and admin.

This is one of the most baffling statements in this whole thing. Literally not how archives work. I feel like Omaha genealogists & researchers might have thoughts about this. Imagine needing to research Omaha history and having to visit half a dozen branches.

The archives and resource materials will be distributed throughout the library locations.

Heritage is not a friend to the people of this city. Their practice of “high-engagement giving” is typical of white savior philanthropy and loaded with stipulations about how the projects they are involved in should be managed.

I can’t get over that the crux of the Heritage Services library plan is a facility that has a complete and utter lack of understanding of a public library. All you had to do was ask ONE person who works in an actual library.

anyone know wtf "project lite brite" is? because that sounds like some villain shit

5/7 In the summer of 2019, Rochelle Mullen traveled with a group that included the city Finance Director and DoSpace leaders to tour libraries in other cities. She was appointed to the library Board of Trustees in July 2021. Both referenced in an email about Project Lite Brite.

Honestly disgusted that it took FOIAs to find out the city is trying to privatize the libraries. Back door dealings should have no part in this and anyone who knew and wasn't blowing the whistle should be ashamed. Lost a lot of respect for some people today.

Don’t let this day of gaslighting about Omaha Libraries confuse you friends. The HS plan shared just a couple weeks ago is still a pretty shitty plan.
