Awakened from a lifetime of devotion to the Mormon Church. Interested in spirituality not religion.
Explaining the miracle of life as simply biology and evolution is like pointing to a video game and saying “it’s just code”. Who wrote the code? Science only describes the rules and systems involved in matter, not the intelligence behind them.
Remember when the pretend Jesus of Doctrine & Covenants uses an obedience ultimatum by threat of destruction to an individual and that was canonized as scripture? And the middle man happened to be the one that stood to gain from compliance? Wild.
The more removed I am from the LDS Church, the starker I see the dichotomy between Joseph Smiths church, and ever since. It’s something that hid in plain sight to me as a believer, but now I see the gap so wide, it’s completely obvious the essence of his religion died with him.
This thread is wild. As one who served a mission and has a son who didn’t (and another son that likely won’t) I have long had a problem with Mormon culture on this issue. And yet this blew my mind. It’s much worse than I even thought. Straight up toxic.
Just watched Erika Kirk’s eulogy in which she extended forgiveness to her husband’s assassin. Profoundly beautiful and Christlike. That’s the stuff that can heal America.
I’m not going to agree or disagree with Brad here, but you can just see in the comments how many respondents display the instinct to defend LDS church leadership as infallible, and paint reasonable criticism as apostasy. Cult like behavior.
I'm going to go on record and state that LDS leadership in Salt Lake City has also failed. The church Presidency has sadly taken a hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil approach to dealing with progressive Leftist radicalization in the LDS population. One blind eye after…
