NFL defensive PI penalty should be 10 yards and an automatic first down for the offense. That's it.
Now let's say later in the game another long pass occurs--50 plus yards. The receiver pushes the defender and offensive PI is called. Is the offense moved back 50 yards? NO. They lose a down and are penalized 10 yards. The rule is GROSSLY unfair and must be changed.
The Pass Interference rule is the biggest problem the NFL has right now, IMO. Let's develop a scenario: One team attempts a long pass down field--50 yards, let's say--the defender brushes the receiver and defensive PI I called. The ball is placed at the spot of the foul.
It took NBC a month to show the blatant push off on the Bears tying Touchdown. Referees are ruining the NFL and the League and networks don't have the guts to speak up.
