This kind of revisionism is self defeating. From the moment Toy was released it was a favourite to win and was widely liked before and after the contest and did well commercially. The exact point is that Israel’s songs now are NOT doing any of that now yet storming the televote.
After the vote rigging in 2025 and 2024 nobody can convince me that they didn't do the same in 2018. Going from 4th in the SF to 1st with over 300 points in the GF is inorganic af. 🇨🇾 had a +50 lead in the semi, a better RO yet somehow still underperformed compared to Israel.
this is straight out of 00s eurovision with a spokesperson that can barely speak english (affectionate) but is fluent in the language of performance, it is glorious and it is unfortunately a dying artform
