Last week Federico Fanti & I visited the ‘Superduck’ locality that produced the type of Probrachylophosaurus to run a section. One of our big #SADP2023 finds is a braincase of this taxon from just across the river in Alberta (!) Great to see my old buddy Mark Goodwin too

Early #FossilFriday - Here is a slab with 10 sponges and a totally enigmatic organism (top right corner), all from the mid-Cambrian Marjum of Utah. These are large individuals (c. 2-3 cm long) of a new sponge species that shall be officially described in the months to come.

The McAbee #Fossil Beds are known for their abundance & diversity of lovely plant, insect & fish that lived in a lake bed setting 52-53 million yrs ago. The beds are 30 metres of shale in the Eocene #Kamloops Group. The fossils are preserved as impressions & carbonaceous films.
