This is why fine sediment pollution is so damaging. The gaps between stones are vital, irreplaceable habitat for salmonid juveniles as well as their (and other species) eggs. Also home to stone loach, bullhead and the many different invertebrates that support the whole ecosystem

Environment Officers have been out in #Hickstead #WestSussex investigating silt pollution from a development. Further enquiries are being made to ensure #trout spawning grounds are protected and practices are changed
