In California, servers may not work over 6 hours without a break due to a new law. So pay is cut 25% since breaks are too hard to sched.

We talk to our servers regularly and try hard to get it right. I love them. Same with our bartenders. Love them. @funkyserver
Make sure and tip 15-20% on a round of drinks if you are sitting at a table. At the bar, 10% is cool if you aren't eating
FYI servers payout ~5% of your check total to supporting staff. When you have no class and cheat us on our expected tip, you cost us $$

In the restaurant biz, write-ups are a serious thing. If you pass them out freely for minimal offenses, you lose your servers respect
If there's food in the window without a ticket, don't start "touching" it and asking if it's extra. You ain't the chef
Make everyone feel special and you will make more money
Don't ask for separate checks after your meal, give us the heads up when you order drinks.
