What’s your definition of an instance and node when talking infrastructure and application in same context?

The Matrix.org outage shows you should run your own homeserver. Relying on theirs is like using centralized Slack. Same risks, no data sovereignty. Self-host for control & independence. ’s scale is epic, but decentralization is its true power!

Right, matrix.org is back online as of 17:00 UTC; struggling a bit as it catches up. Huge apologies again for the outage; postmortem + ways to avoid a repeat will be forthcoming. See also theregister.com/2025/09/03/mat… & heise.de/en/news/Matrix…. Thanks all for your patience

Finally had a chance to record my review of the Framework 16. Timely, too as Framework recently refreshed it. Link below.

Hugops to the matrix infra team! That sounds like a rough one!

...which will take >10h to recover the data, and then >4h to actually restore, and then >3h to catch up on missing traffic. Huge apologies for the outage. Again, folks using their own homeservers are not impacted.

With this attention on Linux… @JumpCloud should really put some work in. Being only able to really run Ubuntu/Debian based is really limiting. Fedora is claimed but seems to regularly break. Maybe we can get omarchy support? Would be great for my team to be able to run arch

The @useTRMNL is very slick device. Use it primarily for an at a glance calendar during the work day. But I really appreciate how quickly they moved to make things right after a recent firmware issue exposed some bad devices. It’s care like that takes me from user to a fan.

No big deal or the end of the world? Here’s something that should be obvious: People don’t like to have their grievances downplayed or dismissed. When that happens, even the smallest irritations can turn into an obsessive crusade. Imagine you’re staying at a hotel, and the air…

Not invisible. Intuitive. Making something invisible via the wrong abstraction is one of the worst developer experiences ever. Make it intuitive instead.

good DX is invisible – it “just works”

Oh come on, how hard could it be to keep these links working forever? It could be like a 5-line Worker backed by KV and you'd never have to touch it once deployed. theverge.com/news/713125/go…

Still hoping @Minimal_Company can help fill this market. Definitely similar mindset

On Sunday I traveled to the middle of the desert to capture this: The ISS against our sun. What I didn't expect: the sun producing a magnificent flare at the same time A once-in-a-lifetime shot I'm thrilled to share with you. See the uncropped shot or get the print in the reply

Love this idea of digital minimalism! The human brain wasn’t meant to consume a firehouse of information constantly. Thanks for the reminder @sudobunni youtu.be/vPsqAwWDYlc Looking forward to my @Minimal_Company phone.

Started wearing my pebble again a couple of months ago. It came in place of my Apple Watch. It does every thing I actually used my Apple Watch for: - notifications - time - sleep tracking + it lasts a week. Excited for the new watches to come out!

It's our pleasure to introduce two new watches that closely follow the original Pebble DNA. Both are available for pre-order starting today. - Core 2 Duo: black/white display, $149, ships in July - Core Time 2: 64 colour display, $225, ships in Dec

I had a feeling this was coming after @diggnation picked back up. But did not expect this partnership! This should be interesting!

The early web was fun. It was weird. It was community-driven. It's time to rebuild that. Which is why @KevinRose & I just bought back @Digg — rival CEOs turned partners! Just don't call it nostalgia! This is a necessary evolution.

Apparently I’m not the only one facing this. Between the awful photos app mess and a buggy iOS… maybe stop focusing on ai and focus on ui/ux?
