The Barbudan people are and have always been a specific Class of people. Their identity is defined by the Barbuda Local Government 1976 Act, CAP44 as originally written and enacted. Identity is NOT fluid but SPECIFIC in Barbuda. That identity was and is not up for sale.

Is there NO shame? When did this revelation/newest platitude manifest? Was it when @antonioguterres spent less than half a day in Barbuda for a photo-op?
Or was it when #Barbudans were told they had no standing? Or after #Barbudans were relegated to the status of residents? After #Barbudans were Divested of our Rights, Land and way of life?
The Chestnuts wrapped in word-salads emanating from the various “Excellencies” do nothing but distract from the realities in-country.
We cannot afford to replicate the inequalities and injustices that continue condemning tens of millions of people to lives of want, poverty & poor health. We need to come together — across countries & sectors— to support those countries who need the most help. #DavosAgenda
Today marks 800 days of house arrest for a "crime" where the longest previous sentence was 90 days. Feeling vulnerable, but also strong and hopeful. 🙏❤️
The movements and #rights of #Antiguans and #Barbudans have been severely curtailed and COVID is given as the reason. In the meantime, the doors have been thrown wide open to whomever wants to visit, whatever status. All are welcome and social distancing and masks are optional.

This feeling was what the Barbudan felt too on our 62 square miles before the visions of “Development” was thrust on us. Now bereft, hungry and made poor we wonder what will become of our soul.
