I've started a discussion around adding a "Functor" HasField instance that would allow you to project records out of arbitrary Functors, e.g. data Struct = Struct {foo :: Int}; let mx :: Maybe Struct in (mx.foo :: Maybe Int) Come join! github.com/ghc-proposals/…

This is a very small thing, but I just got my first ghc proposal implementation merged! It allows {..} syntax for nullary constructors, mostly to make writing TH manipulating records just a tad bit easier. gitlab.haskell.org/ghc/ghc/-/merg…

If any of this sounds like someone you'd want to have as a student, despite the cons, and getting around the lack of an undergrad degree is even the slightest bit feasible, please reach out (here or by email: me AT amelia DOT how). Thanks for reading; have a great weekend, y'all

this, but if you have the ability and opportunity to choose what you're learning

if you're a new dev, consider identifying the languages most often used for the kind of software work *you find interesting*, instead of just the languages demanded by "most employers". most software work sucks, but you can work on cool shit that you enjoy with people you like.

Just had my first contribution to GHC merged! 🎉 (in collaboration with @googleson78 ) Many thanks to my wonderful colleagues at @tweagio for supporting my journey! gitlab.haskell.org/ghc/ghc/-/merg…

I've found today's haskle.net function in 1 trie(s)!

Hey! I just made (my first!) a very minor proposal ghc proposal to help with NamedFieldPuns and ScopedTypeVariables integration - github.com/ghc-proposals/… I would love to hear some opinion (even just a 👍/ 👎) to indicate whether this is worthwhile before submitting it.
