Today, I sent a letter to the Journal News and parent company Gannett urging them to bargain in good faith and respect their workers. Workers' rights are protected by the National Labor Relations Act, and employers must fulfill their duty to bargain in accordance with the law.
Gannett is cutting its employees 401(k) match by 60% and expects a "thank you." January 2020: Existing 5% match (it used to be 6%, pre-Gatehouse merger) July 2020: paused May 2021: 2.5% October 2022: paused July 2024: 1%.
What’s outrageous one of my colleagues who has worked here over 20 years doesn’t remember the last time he got a raise. THAT is NOT ACCEPTABLE
