Monday I practiced our active shooter evacuation plan with my 8-10 year old students. I met dozens of “what ifs” calmly, including how to proceed if I was killed. But the Uvalde video only proves why my words about trusting protocol and cops are worthless to them and me both.

I look forward to hearing the same folks who have been insisting that teachers just can’t be trusted to decide how/what to teach their students now argue that the solution to school shootings is for those same teachers to be armed.
