If you liked my characters, Baldemar the wizard's henchman and Nachecko the necromancer, I think you'll like Banda the mute porter. Intrigue and derring-do by a sympathetic struggler.

My other Indie purchase. I attended a fantastic session with @hapthorn and knew I wanted to read one of his crime novels. It arrived just before our doors lock for the day. This one is set during the War in the Woods in the early 90’s here in BC.

Robert Runté gives my Cascor collection a review in The Ottawa Review of Books. “What elevates Hughes beyond other writers--besides dark humor, convincing world-building, and clever mysteries--is his riotous word play." He compares me to Dr. Seuss. 😲 ottawareviewofbooks.com/single-post/ca…
I mostly don't brag, but this is a tightly written little book that, I think, captures the diverse worldviews of three main characters: an Alberta farm boy, an Arab prince, and a Metis girl running a trapline. Plus, there's a mama grizzly. And it's a finalist for an award.
A great new review of THE EMIR'S FALCON by Matt Hughes (@hapthorn), "a fascinating story from page one to its gratifying conclusion," published by our sister company @ShadowpawPress. reviews.skbooks.com/emirs-falcon-t…
As always, quietly brilliant.
The collection of Cascor novelettes is now live as a POD paperback on Amazon, priced at US$15.99. My usual price is $14.99, but this book is fatter than most of mine (495 pages) so Amazon’s printing cost is higher. amazon.com/dp/1927880386
The collection of Cascor novelettes is now an ebook on Amazon at my usual price of US$4.99. A paperback will soon follow at $15.99. amazon.com/dp/B0CFYSPKZP
Here’s the cover art for CASCOR, a collection of 10 novelets about a freelance discriminator (P.I.), most of which ran in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. It should be available on Amazon et al in the next couple of days I made it myself using an AI image generator.
I'm going to self-pub ebook & ppbk of CASCOR, a collection of stories about a freelance discriminator of the Dying Earth. The collection will have 10 novelettes, totaling 137k words, priced at $4.99 and $14.99.
