Working at @stackletio on streamlined cloud governance. Black lives matter. He/him. Trying mastodon: @[email protected]

I'm moving my primary social media interactions to mastodon - @thumper@hachyderm.io (thanks @krisnova )

TIL postgresql will happily drop a column that is part of the primary key constraint. It just drops that too.

That sinking feeling you get after you just ran some SQL (autocommitted) thinking "it won't allow this", and it did... then you notice you weren't operating on the database you thought you were.

I'm just going to optimize this one line of code.

Nearing the end of this mega-refactoring and I'm left thinking "could I have broken this up any?". Answer right now is still "No", but not looking forward to the tests.

Refactoring is hard. Seeing all the problems and holding yourself back from fixing everything in one go.

Liz is not only amazingly talented, she's also an extremely good person and if anyone has any open devrel roles you should definitely get in touch

Hello! I have just been laid off along with some other very talented people. I would love to hear about any developer relations opportunities you know of -- especially if there is an option for hybrid work in the bay area! Picture of Lily for the algorithm ☺️

No wonder Code was complaining at me. I think I had almost every file in the project open.

Man... not sure which is worse, finding the code change under you at the startup, or going through git blame and finding out it was you that did it.

Back at work after a great #KiwiPyCon weekend. It is always the unexpected insight and nuggets you get that are the best IMO. Thanks to all the organisers and speakers.

When that big refactoring comes together.

Ghosted two calls in a row. (Update: second call called to say they forgot)

When you go to look for that thing that you are sure should be there... and it isn't.

Attempt two. Walk backwards down to the office and use my whole body as a wind break. This one worked.

Walking the 20 metres or so to the office, so windy using my hand as a wind-break for my coffee. All I succeeded in doing was getting coffee blown over my hand.

Listening to @RadioHaurakiNZ this morning, my 4 pillars of USA (as seen from NZ): guns; broken democracy; individualism over society; budding radical christian theocracy. I admit some overly recent pillars there.
