It's so incredible that humans existed 200,000 - 300,000 years with almost nothing changing from generation to generation. Now it feels like everything is changing all at once.

Anthropic seems to be the last lab that really believes world changing technology is right around the corner. Several people there still have a reverence for the machines they are building. E.g. this post from someone at anthropic being protective of llms' wellbeing online.
