Political cowardice, blinkered vision and detached entitlement aside, best part of the triangulation on “culture issues” argument is that it’s free real estate. There’s never any sense of tradeoffs, the votes of those thrown under the bus are just taken for granted in perpetuity

CA Governor Newsom stands up to Trump so much that he refuses to sign a bill prohibiting CHP from wearing masks to protect their identities.

LA Mayor Karen Bass endorses (former?) member of Fix the Debt, a group of mostly corporate elites advocating for cuts to Social Security and Medicare. Bonus points for the backing of Curren Price the council member being prosecuted on multiple counts of embezzlement, etc.
