tbh i just think the backlash a lot of people have "art games" as a whole just really bothers me. i feel like i've been dealing with being around perpetually angry gamers mad that they ever have to think about "art" at all since i've been in the space, and it's exhausting.

Is it me or do gamedevs not put enough emphasis on the role of intuition when talking about creation, compared to other art forms? In my experience gamedev isnt particularly less intuition driven than something like drawing, it just looks more logical on the surface

We don’t always get what we want in life. Games should reflect that. They should sometimes frustrate and thwart us. These decisions feel to me rooted in an idea of game design as pure wish fulfillment, “give the player what they want,” rather than as an artistic vision w/texture.
