Huge congrats to my first grad student, Nabin Poudel, on defending his thesis and earning his M.S.! What makes him exceptional is how he handled setbacks with persistence. Excited he’s staying on for his Ph.D. Mentoring students has been one of the the best part of this job
Few things can make a professor prouder than seeing their student succeed. I am very happy to share that Nabin, my first graduate, won the UGA Tifton graduate student of the year award.
Had an amazing day getting to meet some of the biggest vegetable growers in the country. Some of them delightfully surprised me with their 'sustainability in mind' production practices. Definitely a highlight was meeting a Georgia senator who is also a prolific vegetable producer
We got ourselves some new fiberglass stakes, this should make life for the team so much easier. Vegetable nematode trials can be physically demanding. But it has its benefits, namely higher profit margin for growers, and free vegetables for the nematology team😜😜.
Looking for a motivated scientist to work on a host-resistance against whitefly transmitted virus complex in vegetable crops. Please spread the word @UGAResearch @plantdisease ugajobsearch.com/postings/331360
I am so proud of this young lady Jasmine. She was with us, as a summer intern, for only 1.5 months. In that brief period she completed all the objectives of her research from the ground up, prepared a poster, and won the 1st place in the young scholars program poster competition
Tifton, GA is well on its way to becoming a Nematology research hub. 5 of us nematologists is going to be based right here in this small town. Very exciting times for my students and team! #SON2023

Just boarded the plane with Dr. Patty Timper’s. Exited to visit Columbus Ohio and attend Society of Nematologists Annual meeting. #SON2023
So proud of my team here, they all came to the field at the crack of dawn and completed the first harvest of our half acre cucumber trial by 9.
Last week was amazing for our nematology team. On Tuesday we had the vegetables Extension agent training day. It was specially memorable for me since it was my first time providing training as a PI in UGA. Equally fun was the lab visit by the Grabau nematology team from UFL.
Congratulations Dr. Clarence Codod for successfully defending your Ph.D. Dissertation. Best wishes for your next chapter in your career at UC Davis @UGAPlantPath @ugaCAESresearch
One of the many awesome perks of vegetable field research is that you may not need a gym membership. Haha. Last Thursday and Friday the UGA Tifton nematology team showed awesome teamwork by staking and stringing our spring/summer tomato trial.
My friends in the Nematology world checkout out newly launched laboratory Facebook page for regular updates on UGA vegetable and cotton nematology team. facebook.com/10009311195345…
I love this! I am a ring nematode and I do very much love peaches 🪱💕😄
!!! Which nematode are you? !!! Cool game by @vmourade @sambruty for festival of plants. Apparently I am Garlic Nematode @ESNematologists @SON_nemaweb
Last week when I left my office it was just the the 3 of us full time members of my team, Luis my technician to my left and Nabin my grad student. This week we are 5, Nowrin my newest grad student to my right and Dr. Tania Afroz our research professional sitting opposite to me.
My lab is looking for two postdocs, a PhD student, and a technician to join a set of new, collaborative, and well-funded projects exploring multi-trophic interactions in grasslands and identifying management interventions that can enhance the associated ecosystem services. 1/4
My first grad student Nabin, just completed his first semester, I hear some highest scores in the classes he took are under his belt and an interesting research finding as well. Making his professor proud. An up and coming nematologist brewing right here.

I am happy to share that the UGA cotton and vegetable crop nematology lab based in Tifton is looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join our team! Applicants should have a strong passion for research and enjoy playing with dirt for #PPN research. ugajobsearch.com/postings/292139
