#NationalAdoptionWeek I’m caught in a pragmatic stew between the needs of children, the lived reality of Adoptive life and a process & support system built on the crumbling foundations of a 1960’s notion of adoption. Or perhaps I’m just grumpy.
So, the reality is #NationalAdoptionWeek is wholly not for anybody touched by adoption (children, birth family or adopters). In fact it’s pretty unpopular or viewed sceptically by them. It’s for those who haven’t learnt anything yet.

Today - adoption disruption where LA determined to blame parents. Said child a “normal troubled teenager” - save that diagnosed with FASD and had so scared a foster Carer that she immediately terminated placement. Judge told LA their statement “inflammatory” & to think again!

Like how about helping women of around 60 who are desperately trying to help care for aging parents, or look after grandchildren whose mothers are forced to work all hours to make ends meet, yet are still expected to wait an extra 6 years to get state pensions.
