The only way this will happen is if @hambleyforohio wins in 2026. Then we pass independent redistricting in 2027, and have fair maps by 2028.
The system worked in the regard we got a compromise map and subverted the nuclear 13R-2D map. But this has driven home idea that we must remove politicians and their self-interests from this process. As if we needed another lesson in that, but still.

Democrats should not vote for this. Our maps should be drawn in public, not behind closed doors. Voting for these maps will further eliminate voter’s faith in the Democratic Party to do the right thing.
I have obtained an image of the Ohio Redistricting Commission's Compromise map and recreated it as best as I could in @davesredist, shaded by 2020 President & 2024 President:
If this is true, the two Democrats will be: --voting for illegal maps --killing any chance at a referendum (despite national funding for one) --giving #Ohio Republicans the ability to argue in court for the foreseeable future that an 11-4 or 12-3 map is legal This cannot happen.

Dems are still weighing whether or not to take the deal. Why wouldn't they? A commission map is not subject to referendum. A leg map is. If Dems can get 250k signatures in 90 days they can freeze the leg map for the midterms & keep the current map which is now 10R-5D
